Come on Bub! X-Men Origins: Wolverine Review

Posted in Uncategorized on May 6, 2009 by krooton

Well…not that Wolverine…this wolverine:

X-Men Origins: Wolverine came out last weekend and I went to go see with my buddies and I have to say that it was a very good movie. If you haven’t seen the previous X-Men movies then, it doesn’t matter, its  a prequel and explains some things that are mention in the “earlier” movies. The movie explains Wolverine’s violent past from his childhood up to just before the formation of the X-Men in the first film.

Plot: All X-Men fans knowe basic plot. The movie adds some slight changes about Wolverine’s desire for revenge and the Weapon X program but its pretty much the same basic principle, he gets adamantium put onto his skeleton and then escapes and is hunted but wants revenge on the men who did the expierement on him.

8/10

Presentation:

I have to say this is where the movie excells. All of the fight scenes were bad ass no questions asked. Deadpool adds some comedy as well as a couple comments during the fights keeping them funny but still grim and awesome. It also doesn’t bombard you constantly with fights like some action movies and keeps the movie flowing. You understand what’s going on and you have a good time watching it.

9/10

Acting:
The acting in this movie was pretty damn good, from the bad ass Wolverine to Deadpool’s wise cracking mouth I really found the acting well done. The actors sure fit the parts of the characters well and I feel that this was the best acting out of all the X-Men movies.

If your a wolverine fan or an X-Men fan I recommend watching it. If your looking for a drastic change between this movie and its previous ones, you’re out of luck my friend. Come back when you’re mmmmmmmmm richer. :D

Overall:

8.5/10

It’s Marvel Babee!!

Posted in Gaming on April 30, 2009 by krooton

That’s right, it’s Marvel Babee!! Marvel vs Capcom 2, argueably the best fighting game to ever been released is getting rereleased on the PS3′s PSN and the Xbox 360′s Xbox Live.

Tomorrow, April 30th, the PS3 players will get a free demo version with 6 playable characters: Ryu, Chun Li, Strider, Wolverine, Spiderman, and Iron Man. The official release is the Dreamcast port with a couple changes. Everyone is unlocked from the start, you can smooth out the pixels to make the game look smoother, and there is online play!!!!! The game play is exactly the same with the help of MvC 2 pro player’s help they made sure the game play was the way it used to be. Only the Gambit Glitch was removed but they left all other gameplay marvels, like the Juggernaught’s glitch.

MvC 2 is my favorite game of all time and I can’t tell you enough how hyped I am for the release of MvC 2 “HD REMIX” even though the sprites were not redrawn like SF 2 HD Remix. The stages look amazing, the pixels can be smoother or the way they used to be, and the game looks just as good as it used to be.

Muramasa: The Demon Blade

Posted in Gaming on April 20, 2009 by krooton

Coming July 28, 2009 to stores all over the United States is a side scroller, RPG/Action game called Muramasa: The Demon Blade. It was released in Japan on April 9th, 2009. Here is some basic info:

Created by the makers of Odin’s Sphere a game released for the PS2 it stars two characters.

Kisuke, an assasin with Amnesia he longs to find a certain Katana and is will to search Japan for it.

Momohime, a sword wielding Kunoichi who has been possessed by a swordsman’s spirt.

The plot is this:

The game takes place during the Genroku era at the time of shogun Tokugawa Tsunayoshi on Honshū, the main island of Japan. Because of his thirst for power, a conflict over immensely powerful swords, The Demon Blades, occurs. The swords are cursed and are said to bring tragedy, madness, and untimely deaths. As the chaos from the conflict spreads, creatures from the netherworld are summoned by these blades, along with Dragon and Demon Gods.

The game looks very promising and even for a side scroller on the wii the game looks nice and beatiful. The combat looks fluid and the controls are simple enough for a beginner to play with but can also be mastered by an expert for excellentt abilities. You can use wiimote and nunchuk, classic controller, or gamecube controllers for the game.

The two characters start on two different points in the story and meet in the middle of the story according to what I’ve read. The boss battles look very epic and amazing and the settings are very nice. The rpg element follows chatting with NPCS, leveling up your skills, and getting new magical blades to defeat you’re foes with (108 different blades to collect). There is no co-op but there are multiple game modes for replay value plus 2 story modes following the 2 different characters. The different game modes are:

Unmatched ( Musō) Mode: focuses on character leveling as opposed to action

Carnage (Shura) Mode: more action based, recommended for skilled players.

Insane Death (Shigurui) Mode: is only available after a player clears the game in Unmatched Mode, this mode plays in the same fashion as Unmatched Mode but limits player’s HP to 1 and will never grow when leveled up.

Shoryuken!, Street Fighter 4 Review

Posted in Uncategorized on March 21, 2009 by krooton

On February 17th, 2009 Street Fighter 4 was released for the Xbox 360 and PS3. It had been previously released on Arcade systems with a few features missing that the home version has. The home version has the following features that the arcade doesn’t have:

Free to Play, Go flush those quarters down the drain on something else.

Internet Play, Lagless online play if you have a good connection.

6 Exclusive Playable Characters

Exclusive Trial and Training Modes

Lets begin the official review:

Gameplay: The game is smooth, the fighting system exactly like any other Street Fighter, except for the new ability called a Focus attack which replaces Street Fighter 3, The 3rd Strike’s teching system and the revenge meter and Ultra Combo. The revenge meter fills up as you take damage and increases the damage on your ultra combo the higher it is. If you liked any of the other street fighter games or the Marvel vs Capcom series or any fighting game that uses the street fighter combat system then I believe you will enjoy Street Fighter 4. However the only thing the game is lacking is the ability to do anything but stand up after being knocked down. A getting up attack or roll or something would always be nice.

I give it a 9/10

Graphics: The graphics for Street Fighter 4 are a new style compared to the old Street Fighter sprite characters with the new improved graphics giving the charactes and enviroments a more 3D feel while keeping a 2D fighting plane like always. Some people are unhappy with the graphics I believe them to be very nice. Capcom was nice enough to keep Chun-Li’s big thighs and man like hands even with the new graphics. Some characters I do not like the transfer into the new style, Blanka and Sakura for example look strange to me and Bison’s fighting stance I think should be slowed down. Man he looks like he is sugar high or something.

I give it a 8.5/10

Soundtrack: Its simple, techno remixs, song remixs, some hip hop sounding music, and some traditional sounding music all put into one game is pretty tight I must say. I really enjoy the fact that they re use some old favorite tunes from Street Fighter 2.

I give it a 9/10

Multiplayer: This game is ment to be a multi-player game. After beating Single player your most likely going to spend most of your time playing online against other players or in person with other players. The only content worth playing single player longer then just unlocking characters is to unlock character costumes.

I give it a 10/10

Here’s a little note to people who may not know. The English voice acting Fails in this game but you can change it to Japanese and I highly recomend it.

Overall: I give this game a 9/10. Its one of my new favorites out there and I hope to play online with some readers in the future. My favorite characters are Fuerte and Bison.

Here’s a video demonstrating somethings that are new in Street Fighter 4.

Warhammer 40,000 Space Marine

Posted in Gaming, Warhammer 40k on September 23, 2008 by krooton

I’ve discovered a pretty cool looking game called Warhammer 40,000 Space Marine, a 3rd Person Action Shooter Game although it does look like they want you to fight in Melee combat more. Its being made for the PS3, XBOX 360 and maybe even the PC I’m not sure yet. Heres the introductory video. I think it looks pretty promising. If its good and the Warhammer 40k MMORPG is good I will be happy :)

Gaming Update: Which Rock Game to go with

Posted in Gaming on August 31, 2008 by krooton

As you all know there are 3 rock games coming out this holiday season:

Guitar Hero: World Tour

Rock Band 2

And Rock Revolution.

Im sure most of you are wondering which one to get ive already decided and ill say which later but lets list the general genera of rock they all revolve around and such.

Lets start with GH4, its gone the way of rock band and has implemented custom player avatars, a full band of insturments, bass guitar drums and mike, and has added a song maker. The biggest thing though is that its made up of complete master recordings yes thats right NO COVERS. It pretty much starts off at softer rock moves up to hard and ends with metal which im happy. This is much more hard work oriented so i definatly reccomend this one if your a metal or hard rock enthuisast like myself. I mean its gonna have Crazy Train and Mr. Crowley so im happy right now. Only 57 songs have been announced: heres the linkhttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Guitar_Hero_IV

Over all id definatly check out GH4 on ouctober 26th.

Rock band 2: what can i say its really not changing i mean it has a very sub par song list in my opinion, I see like a song or 2 i like and the only one that comes to mind at this point is Let there be Rock, im not impressed. From what ive seen and heard the only new addition is bass career, w/e. All the songs have been announced and are supposedly master recordings. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rock_band_2_song_list

Rock Revolution: I can say this right now its gonna suck complete shit, and i seriously mean complete shit. It doesnt even have 50 songs like 46. now your probbobly thinking Josh you crazy shit your definatly over reacting there probobly all master recordings, WRONG. There are 0 and i mean 0 master recordings, and only 1 song like Run to the hills, it seems like a complete rip off of Rock bands song list except cut in half and no master recordings. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rock_Revolution

After much thinking and deciding Ive decided that im definatly looking forward to Guitar Hero: World Tour the most, I mean just the song list thats been announced that isnt even the complete thing is better then the other 2, and if its anything like the rumored one i saw then it will definatly have the best song list over all. Now im not saying which is better then which, except rock revolution is a piece of shit dont bother with it it sucks ass. I made this in the hopes it would help you guys decide. I hope this has been helpful and remember: “Live Free And Rock Hard.”

The First Negative Review : Star Wars the Clone Wars

Posted in Review with tags , , on August 28, 2008 by krooton

Yes thats right…I sat through that bad star wars trash film and so I must spread my misery to everyone heres my review of Star Wars the Clone Wars, the Animated Film.

You Can Tell its Bad Just by the Animation on the Poster

You Can Tell its Bad Just by the Animation on the Poster

Lets begin with the Plot:

The Plot: General Skywalker has been given a “young ling” as a padawan. Together Master Yoda sends them on a special mission for the republic…rescue Jabba the Hutts son in order to gain his favor. His kidnappers of course are Count Duku and Beatrix his partner I think. Count Duku however is with Jabba the Hutt and is attempting to make Jabba believe that the Jedi order has killed his son and is on their way to kill him in order to gain his favor in the war. If they win his favor then they can fly freely in his space lines. Its sounds ok on paper but during the movie its just bad.

Animation: The animation style is just awful, it may be fluid but I’ve seen better animation from College Animation students. Its just unappealing to the eye. Sure the robots, walkers, enviroments, and faceless clone troopers weren’t bad but everyone with facial expressions were just…uhhh I don’t even know how to explain it.

Voice Acting: The voice acting was all awful except for Yoda’s and Palpatine’s, the rest were bad and didn’t seem right…cept for maybe Obi Wan his was ok. Anakins was awful and his padawan sounded to me like some girl from Nickelodeon or the Disney Channel. It was boring and unappealing.

Action: The fire fights and large scale war wasn’t bad but the lightsaber duels were bad. It was almost like watching anime animation for them. Its a shame…

This is the shame movie of the Star Wars movies. You know its bad when Count Dooku looks like he has Mount Everest as a beard. I will now give you my final rating!

Rating: 2/5 Bad but not dreadful. I could actually watch all the way through without leaving.
